Our Volunteers - Belle
My time with TOLFA in October 2006 was my first visit to India, but it definitely won’t be my last!!! I found Rachel and the veterinary/animal assistants team at the clinic so welcoming, supportive and inspirational in their daily duties.
Belle and Sitaram treating a cow with an infected joint!
The animals we treated had already endured some of the worst circumstances I have ever seen including nasty limb fractures, rampant infections, extremely poor body condition, often on deaths door… Yet the majority of these street animals will still greet you with a waggy tail, licking your palm, even the cows still love a face rub!
The resilience and will to get on with life is so apparent in these little souls! Working at the clinic can be mentally exhausting, physically taxing, emotionally challenging….. but OH SO WORTH IT when you see the animals that are released from hospital, often days, weeks, months after their initial admission… Walking again, running again despite losing a leg, happy and full of life again despite enduring long illnesses. How can we NOT help them!
I look forward to returning again to TOLFA to help with the wonderful compassion and care that they are giving to the animals.!
