World Rabies Day and New Kennel Inauguration

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

“Working together to Make Rabies History!” – shouted the slogan and T.O.L.F.A. tucked away in a small corner of the planet, marked the day with it’s own charming programme. It indeed felt good to be part of a global push, with hundreds of other charities and NGO’s marking the day, in their own special way.

Kharekhari Village

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Our hospital is based in nearly 2 acres of unspoilt agricultural land in a village called Kharekhari. Situated in a valley, the ancient Aravali mountain range surrounds us on every side and gives the shelter an idyllic setting which changes from desert in the height of summer to a lush green oasis after the monsoon.

Fior Di Loto sponsorship

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

The Tree of Life for Animals, gratefully received a generous contribution of Rs 11,000 from Fior Di Loto - a charitable foundation, to help us with our Rabies eradication programme, specifically in Pushkar. This sponsorship has allowed us to vaccinate many dogs against Rabies to try and eradicate it from the animal and human population.

Fior Di Loto have done so much to help the Tree of Life for Animals in the past months and we hope they will continue their support for many years to come. At the same time we hope to reciprocate their generosity in a way that mutually benefits both our charitable organisations and the local community.

About Fior Di Loto

Fior Di Loto is a charitable foundation that was set up to help the many Indian girls who do not have a chance to get any education in the village of Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan (northwest India). They are also committed to improving the quality of life to the impoverished community and have achieved a remarkable amount in the 4 years they have been established.

Fior Di Loto Foundation India

Most of the girls that Fior Di Loto help belong to the untouchable caste, Shudel. They select each girl by arranging a personal visit to evaluate the family conditions. The selection concentrates on girls who have no fathers or mothers, if someone in the family has a drug or alcohol addiction or if they are from particularly large families. It is extremely difficult to make these decisions as there are so many girls they want to help, in their eyes they all need help.

The foundation has been running since February 2003 and since then they have provided free education to over 400 girls, provided access to special education for deaf, illiterate and handicapped children as well as opening a school tent to teach local gypsy children.

They have also provided regular donations to the elderly, widows, furniture to local schools, medicines and equipment to local hospitals, food to youth drug camps, drilled water wells to supply 3 villages with fresh water, purchased rickshaws carts to provide employment and built a house for 2 fatherless girls. They do an incredible job and want to do much more in the future.
