Vote for the Tree of Life for Animals

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Are you fed up with all the negative stories that get reported in the news everyday? Surely there are good things that happen every second that we never get to hear about, stories to inspire us.

A new website plans to change all that. Optimist World is a place with a difference. It reports only good news, things that are happening throughout the world by people and companies that make a difference to our lives, to the lives of others and the world we live in.

Optimist World Charity Feature

We are lucky enough to be a featured charity this week on Optimist World. What does this mean? Well it means that we have been chosen because of the positive impact we are having on the lives of people and animals in India.

Vote for us!

By voting for us to become ‘Charity of the Week’ we get the chance to be entered into the end of year draw which could see us winning a cash prize. Imagine what a bigger difference we could make if we won!

TOLFA says ‘Thank You’ for supplies

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

We recently received a great big supply of valuable suture material which had been donated by one of our previous Project Raja volunteers, Heather.

This type of suture material is very expensive in India but vital for us to perform our operations. By getting enough of this to last us several months and hundreds of operations, means we can use our funding on other important medicines and supplies.

We are so proud of our Project Raja volunteers. They have all done a superb job of interacting with our wonderful staff and giving so much to the shelter and its patients.

What is even more amazing is that many of them return to their homes and jobs but don’t forget about us - they continue to support us by fundraising, telling everyone they know about us and donating much needed supplies.

Thank you for the suture material

Caitriona’s Epic Ride for TOLFA

Friday, August 15th, 2008

It has been almost a year to the day that Caitriona O’Leary announced she was planning a Ride for the Tree of Life for Animals. It is now only a few weeks before Caitriona, a friend and supporter of TOLFA, will set off to begin her epic adventure to raise awareness and money for TOLFA’s work.

She will do this by riding the old nomadic trail from Udaipur to Pushkar ka Mela: the biggest camel fair in the world. This is no easy feat. The ride will see Caitriona and her Marwari horse Chandra cover over 400kms of desert roads and hard dusty tracks.

Caitriona’s reason for even contemplating this feat?;

‘I have known Rachel Wright, the founder, for a number of years and having seen various animal charities throughout Asia I think that hers is one of the best. By raising money for the Tree of Life for Animals, I hope to make it possible for them to provide mobile education camps in nearby villages, providing training in basic animal care for farmers’.

Catriona is currently appealing for donations on www.justgiving.com/caitrionaoleary so please sponsor her and and help make it the success it deserves to be.

Our Latest Volunteer - Gill

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Gill came to volunteer at our shelter and during her 4 weeks with us she enjoyed a sojourn to Jaipur, attended Serena’s leaving party where they were entertained by a local musician, experienced the local cuisine, learned the art of scooter riding and of course had the obligatory hennaed hand treatment.
