Our New Cattle Hoist

Inspired by her volunteer experience with us last November, Pauhla was determined to raise enough money for us to buy a cattle hoist which we needed to lift our more cumbersome patients.

Pauhla was so driven on her return to the UK she managed to fulfill her mission and raise the whole £500 needed to allow us to buy one. The hoist itself was ordered in the UK and transported over in Rachel’s backpack whilst the A-frame needed to support it will be made in India.

By having this support mechanism we can greatly improve the way we treat our larger patients. It allows our staff to lift cows, buffalos and donkeys up for a few hours a day to ease the pressure on their gut and other major organs. It also helps improve their circulation and avoids nerve damage. Essentially this piece of equipment will increase their survival rates.

It would have proven very useful for our Calf Rescue earlier in the year.

Many thanks to Pauhla for her fundraising efforts and for everyone who contributed towards this vital piece of equipment. You all deserve a big pat on the back!
