Charity Dog Show

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

In November 2007 we received an email from Cromwell Vets in Cambridgeshire announcing they were organising a charity dog show at Hinchingbrooke Country Park to celebrate National VN Week. They hoped to raise lots of money that they would donate between 3 different charities: The Hedgehog Preservation Society, the Cinnamon Trust and us, the Tree of Life for Animals.

We were very honoured to have been selected and as a result have just received a cheque for £238.57 - what a fantastic job. Well done everyone at Cromwell Veterinary Surgery and thank you!

Our Latest Volunteer - Pauhla

Monday, January 21st, 2008

I first met Rachel Wright, founder of TOLFA, in 2003, when we both enrolled on a diploma course in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals. About a year ago, Rachel made a comment in an email to me that she hadn’t realised just how many large animals they would see at the shelter, such as cattle and donkeys. Off course big mouth here, being a farmer said “Well in that case you could do with someone who knows one end of a cow from another!” and Rachel’s reply was “So when are you coming???”

So, on Tuesday 30th October 2007 I arrived in Delhi along with my friend Mary Lindo, another vet nurse from the course and my friend Brenda. Our first introduction to India was when what initially looked like a minor road rage incident as we left the airport car park, escalated into what I suspect was a fatal assault and at that point, I must admit, I was starting to wonder quite what I had got myself into!

Fundraising Ceilidh

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

The Date: 7th January 2008

The Mission: To organise a ceilidh and fundraise for TOLFA (whilst keeping warm and having fun).

Heather McCabe had such a fantastic time as a Project Raja Volunteer that when she arrived home she decided to continue helping us.

Her efforts managed to raise us £50 plus an extra £50 from one of our collection boxes.

Heathers Ceilidh

It seemed like a good idea at the time, to use our contacts and put on a ceilidh in Glasgow to raise the profile of TOLFA and maybe a little money too. TOLFA has a special relationship with the Glasgow Vet students, several have volunteered at our rescue centre and hospital in Rajasthan, so a ring-round rallied the crew to help out and we were underway.

Collection Boxes Donated

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Simon Andrews is a cabinet maker in Richmond, North Yorkshire, normally he is busy making bespoke welsh dressers and kitchen cabinets, but as a great dog lover (he has 2 rescue Border Collies) and admirer of the work of Tolfa, he sawed, hammered and painted away to make us 2 new collecting boxes to the same design as our Indian version.
